1)  OLYMPIC KREISEL

2006 - Recipient of the Outstanding Award and money prize in the International Sculpture Competition by the City of Beijing (selected from 2700 submissions from over 40 Countries).

2)  KREISEL

Outdoor, large Light & Optical  Sculpture suitable for Traffic Islands.

General Design:

Three times 72 steel cables are suspended from 3 different rings from the central light mast, descending at different angles to their circular fixation on the ground.

Due to the different suspension points and the different angles, eye-catching Moire Patterns emerge and keep changing subtly move around the circular traffic island.
(The pattern is subtle and the lights change very slowly in order not to distract the drivers)

There are computerized LED color lights which change the appearance of the steel cable structure slowly, so it always looks different.

The cables can easily be detached for maintenance of the LED and Traffic Lamps. They are fixed with a pre-engineered breakpoint, in case a car hits the cables (which then act to absorb the impact).
