Moving On UP Kinetic Sculpture |
International Kinetic Artist Ralfonso's
lastest sculpture, the 5 meter tall
(15ft ) 'Moving On UP Kinetic
Sculpture', recently exhibited at the RT
IN MOTION 3rd Biennale in Leeuwarden,
Netherland - for movies and detailed
information, please see
website - is now sold and on its way
to be placed permanently in front of the
ultra modern high-rise building "New
Star" in St. Petersburg, Russia - see
www.rbi.ru.
This architectural kinetic sculpture was
designed in the USA, hand-build in
Switzerland, exhibited in the 3rd
Holland Biennale, and will finally find
a permanent home in St. Petersburg,
Russia - just across from Russian
President Putin's Dacha.
Ralfonso is a Swiss Designer of Kinetic
Sculptures, working mainly in Europe and
the United States.
His major passion is the design and
creation of large 3 dimensional kinetic
sculptures that move in the wind and
water. He also designs sound-sculptures,
suspended mobiles as well as fountains.
These designs are usually
site-specifically created for
commercial, institutional and public
buildings, plazas and parks, mostly in
urban environments.
Currently Ralfonso kinetic sculptures
are displayed in the USA, Germany,
Switzerland and shortly in St.
Petersburg, Russia.

In 2001-02, the national
developer RBI Holding
commenced with the
construction of the project
of the new elite apartment
complex "New Star", which
will become one of the
symbols of the new
architecture of city.
Besides the architectural
merits (noted by the Gold
Diploma X of the “2002
International Architecture
Competition "), the
uniqueness of the building
had to be emphasized by a
monumental sculpture, which
was to be integrated into
the architectural entirety
of the complex.
The first step in this
direction became the
preparation of an open
international competition
for the creation of a
monumental kinetic
sculpture, which is moved by
the action of natural forces
- wind, solar energy,
magnets.
Unfortunately, it turned out
that in Russia such
sculptures are extremely
hard to find. Without
wanting to change the
concept of a Kinetic
Sculpture, RBI company
agreed to search for a
western sculptor, who had
already achieved similar
large projects.
In the middle of 2003 in
Holland, the 3 months
international art exhibition
and Biennale "ART IN
MOTION", took place, which
represented a number of
works by the most important
sculptors of this art
direction. One of the most
spectacular works,
represented on the
exhibition, proved to be
"Moving On UP" by Swiss
sculptor Ralf Gschwend. The
Swiss artist of contemporary
large to monumental
sculptures negotiated with
RBI Holding, until the
original number one “Moving
On UP” sculpture left from
Holland via Switzerland for
Russia, into Saint
Petersburg.
From 15 July, over the
course of one month, the
sculpture will be on
temporary exhibition in
"Grand Hotel
Europe-Kempinski". At the
end of this year the
official sculpture
unveiling, together with the
official opening of the
elite apartment complex "New
Star" will take place. |

Press Release,

RBI revives the kinetic art in Russia
Today in
the Grand-Hotel Europe (ul Mikhajlovsk, 1/7)
takes place the discovery the only in
Petersburg kinetic sculpture of the Swiss
Master Ralfonso (Ralf Gschwend) "Moving on
Up".
Despite the fact that the kinetic art was
conceived in the1920-30 in THE USSR, it was
hardly developed in the middle of century,
most acknowledgement and development of
Kinetic Art is found on the West. But in
Saint Petersburg, where the concentration of
sculptures downtown is among the largest in
the world, until now, there is not one
kinetic sculpture. With the advent of
Ralfonso's sculpture "Moving on Up" kinetic
art will revive on the native land.
The Sculpture "Moving on Up", which became
one of the most spectacular works of the
international exhibition "Art in Motion"
(Holland, 2003)now belongs to the art
collection of RBI Holding. In the course of
the month it will be located for a temporary
exposition in the Grand Hotel Europe, and at
the end of this year the official
installation on the grounds of the elite
Apartment complex "New Star" (sandy
observer, 14). |

RBI
Moving on Up».
скульптуры «Moving on Up» кинетическое
искусство возродится на родине.
Скульптура
«Moving on Up», ставшая одной из самых
