Sound Well
Indoor, large kinetic
water-driven chime sculpture.
Conforming to the circular shape of a fountain base, the
Sound Well Fountain consists of 3 tiers, each with 8 tuned wind-chimes,
reaching to the full height of 6 to 9 feet, depending on the space.
Water is pumped to the 3 circular horizontal ring frames,
from where it drops slowly into cone shaped receptacles. Once a receptacle
is filled, due to its increase weight, it rotates down to relieve the water
into the central fountain basin at the bottom.
As it moves back into its original vertical position, the
metal ball at the end of the lever hits the wind chime gently, resulting in
a reverberating soft chime gong.
This soothing melody of water drops with intermittent
chime gongs creates a positive and welcoming ambience that will enrich even
large public spaces.
The continuous motion of the levers and water-cones
are truly calming and joyful to watch.
